I wanted a clearer picture of where my investment capital is actually deployed, beyond a list of individual stocks.
This Excel dashboard groups holdings by granular macro themes, such as power infrastructure, defence, AI infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, capital-market infrastructure, and commodities. It tracks current market value, invested value, profit and loss, returns, and each theme’s share of the portfolio.
The aim is to see where exposure is accumulating, which themes dominate the portfolio, and how gains and losses are distributed across different areas.
The underlying holdings view adds another layer, showing individual stocks, quantities, average buy costs, market prices, and portfolio weights.
Together, these views help me move between the individual holding and the larger portfolio. A stock may look small on its own but belong to a theme that already represents a substantial part of my investments.
It’s an Excel-based tool for making portfolio exposure and concentration easier to see, rather than relying on intuition or a list of holdings.
