Equity Investment Model

I built this Excel model to make my equity investment decisions more systematic.

It scores stocks across four lenses: sector fundamentals, technical trend, sentiment and flow, and portfolio fit. Each lens has a defined weight, adding up to a total score of 100 points.

The fundamentals pillar looks at valuation, growth, cash quality, governance, and return on capital. The technical pillar evaluates moving-average structure, momentum, and relative strength. Sentiment and flow considers institutional activity, delivery percentage, and resilience. Portfolio fit accounts for the stock’s role in the portfolio, sizing, and diversification.

But scoring a stock is only part of the problem. The model also connects those scores to capital allocation. It considers the money available for deployment, the intended position size, and how an investment should be divided into tranches at different price levels.

The technical score also influences the allocation across those tranches. The aim is to adapt the deployment plan to market conditions rather than commit the entire amount at once.

This is an attempt to bring business assessment, market signals, and portfolio constraints into one repeatable framework. The score informs the decision; it doesn’t replace judgment.
